According to recent LinkedIn research, 73% of Irish professionals are considering new job opportunities in 2024. This suggests a proactive effort by workers to take control over their career trajectories rather than stagnantly staying put in roles not enhancing their objectives.
LinkedIn’s survey of over 1500 Irish professionals indicates desiring higher wages ranks as the top motivation behind desired position changes in 2024. 44% hope a new employer could provide better earnings potential to battle rising bills. Improving lagging work-life balance stands as the second most popular rationale at 32%.
Additionally, LinkedIn’s data reveals 13% admit feeling boredom in current jobs, sparking their interest to explore entirely new industries and career directions this year. This openness to risk signals confidence among Irish workers regarding transferable abilities.
However, LinkedIn findings show nearly 20% still struggle matching their accumulated skills and experiences to employer needs during job searching – hindering their ability to demonstrate qualifications confidently when applying to openings.
Additionally, 64% described feeling frustrated throughout the job hunting process overall. From deciphering job ads to interviewing rounds requiring time off work, the efforts take a mental toll – especially when 27% report never hearing back from potential employers post-application as their #1 frustration.
Yet despite these noted obstacles, Irish professionals remain ambitious to progress towards more fulfilling roles aligned to personal and financial goals – leading many to proactively plan moves in 2024’s optimistic hiring market.
