Irish Job Market Sees Decline in Fully Remote Roles as Hybrid Working Stabilizes

Ireland Takes Second Place for Hybrid Job Postings in Europe

The latest Jobs Index from IrishJobs for Q3 2024 highlights a notable shift in Ireland’s job market, with fully remote roles reaching their lowest availability in nearly four years.

Currently, only 1.9% of job vacancies offer a fully remote working option, continuing a downward trend in remote opportunities observed over the past year. This decline points to a clear reduction in fully remote work as a practice across Ireland.

Conversely, hybrid working roles have shown resilience, maintaining a steady range of 11.2% to 12.4% of vacancies over the last six quarters. This stability suggests that hybrid working is poised to remain a lasting and significant feature in the Irish labour market, contrasting with the diminishing presence of fully remote positions.

Bronagh Cotter, CEO of Recruit.ie, commented on the shift in remote working trends, saying:

“The latest data underscores a clear preference within the Irish job market for hybrid working models over fully remote roles. Although fully remote positions are fewer, hybrid roles have stabilized, reflecting a balanced approach that many employers and employees find sustainable in the long term.”
