The Importance of Workplace Culture and Values

According to siliconrepublic.com, a new report reveals that workplace culture and values have become a top priority for jobseekers in Ireland.

The Growing Importance of Workplace Culture and Values

A company’s culture and values are becoming increasingly vital factors for job seekers when evaluating potential employers. With new data revealing just how much workplace culture impacts hiring and retention, it’s clear that emphasizing cultural fit attracts top talent.

Workers Want Values Alignment

Recent internal LinkedIn data shows a 154% increase over two years in entry-level job postings that mention company culture and values. Job ads highlighting culture, flexibility and employee wellbeing get nearly 3 times more views and double the applicants.

Additionally, a Censuswide survey of over 1,100 Irish professionals found that 62% wouldn’t apply somewhere that didn’t share their personal values. Over a third left jobs for ones with longer commutes but better culture fit. Despite salary being a top priority nowadays, 91% have considered leaving for improved value alignment.

Top Values Driving Job Seekers

The Censuswide survey revealed the top values Irish professionals hope to find in workplaces today:

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion (37%)
  • Social impact (25%)
  • Environmental sustainability (19%)
  • Mental health support (58% ask about policies)
  • Burnout prevention (59% ask about policies)

Culture Impacts Productivity

Mismatched values can quickly lead to disengagement. Nearly a quarter of professionals said they worked less hard when disappointed with an employer’s culture after being hired. That’s why emphasizing cultural fit is key for recruitment and retention.
