The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Credit Manager to build and run the credit management function for the business.

The Credit Manager will be responsible for overseeing the collection of overdue bills as well as creating and implementing credit risk management strategies across the business. The role will involve coordinating all collections activity across the business, implementing a credit scoring system for our residential customers, managing and reporting on the performance of third-party collections partners on final accounts collections, ensuring regulatory compliance across the credit management function, dealing with key stakeholders on credit management policy, and providing accurate and timely reporting on all credit management activity

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ of previous experience working as a credit manager with a residential customer base. Energy/telecoms experience would be a distinct advantage. Strong Excel and numerical skills are essential along with demonstrable skills in stakeholder management, vendor management, and generating credit management reporting and KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reporting to accurately identify overdue bills and aging of debt.
  • Developing and monitoring of residential dunning cycles
  • Building out the credit management function and recruiting team members as needed
  • Manage & lead a team of credit management professionals providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance across the credit management function.
  • Development of credit scoring/ risk process for existing and new customers
  • Identify & manage third-party collections partners in a vendor management capacity.
  • Influence key stakeholders across the business regarding the implementation of the credit management strategies
  • Build and distribute KPI metrics and reporting for the credit management function to senior management across the business.
  • Build and develop third-party relationships with the network operators.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a credit manager in a similar environment
  • Previous utilities experience particularly within Energy/Telecoms would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent collaboration skills along with the ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work to targets to achieve individual and team objectives.
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to inspire loyalty and get the best out of team members.
  • Strong numerical skills with experience in Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, is essential.
  • Previous experience with managing third-party vendors is desired.
  • Strong reporting skills with the ability to articulate credit management performance clearly and concisely to senior management.
