Job Summary

The Operations Manager will lead a multidiscipline team with responsibility for areas inclusive of manufacturing, materials, and Engineering. The Operations Manager executes the production schedules to achieve monthly sales objectives.  They will develop manufacturing strategies to meet business growth and deliver on overall company objectives and key performance metrics.   He/She provides support and works closely with all other functional heads.  Drives quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives while managing overall costs. The Operations Manager is responsible for balloons team, catheter team, planning, Warehouse & production Engineering, Production Supervisors. S/he may delegate selected responsibilities to these staff as appropriate.

Some travel may be required (less than 5%).

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Member of the site management team, participate and leads Health & Safety initiatives for the site.
  2. Develop and manage capacity and resources to deliver on the manufacturing strategy, yearly forecast, and key performance metrics.
  3. Manage resources to support technical trials/new product/ new technology introduction in conjunction with the Product Development, Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineering and Quality departments.
  4. Ensure that products manufactured by the team meet the requirements of end users, customers, regulatory authorities, and the company.
  5. Champion NBS Next program supporting Continuous Improvement & problem solving within the organisation in addition to supporting six sigma green and black belt projects.
  6. Build Agile work teams (motivated, competent and results focused), developing a culture of continuous improvement within all departments.
  7. Manage performance of direct reports, and ensure actions, improvements and decisions emanating from these reviews are carried out in a timely manner.
  8. Achieve key project deliverables on time and within budget.
  9. Maintain effective communication with staff in order to promote awareness of and to conform to customer requirements.
  10. Organise, implement and maintain a recruitment and training programme to ensure Operators, Technicians and support staff are fully capable of performing their duties.
  11. Ensure that manufacturing equipment and processes are validated and calibrated in accordance with the Vention Medical quality system.
  12. Manage and ensure compliance to Nordson Medical quality and safety systems within the manufacturing department.
  13. Manage headcount and expenditure within budgeted figures and deliver on cost savings.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

The Operations Manager should have a primary degree in Polymer, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or minimum of 10-15 years relevant experience in a manufacturing management role.
S/he should preferably have a minimum of 5 -7 years medical device/pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics manufacturing experience. At a minimum 5 - 7years experience in a senior manufacturing management role.
Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system required.
Bachelor Degree (level 8) in a related field desirable but not essential.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to look at a computer screen, reports and other documents.  The employee is regularly required to use their hands on a computer keyboard or a calculator.  The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and interact with other employees.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
