Job Title: Product Development Engineer
Division/Department: Medical Interventional Solutions/Quality
Location: Galway, Ireland
Reports to: Sr. Engineering Manager
FLSA Status:  Exempt 
Type of position: Full time

Job Summary

A high-performing Product Development Engineer that will support product development of medical devices from feasibility through to market introduction on a contract basis for our customers. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with 3-5 years experience, who is excited by the prospect of supporting projects in a dynamic environment to support business growth.

The Product Development Engineer will be a member of the Product Development team working on a variety of projects and assignments.

Projects and Assignments to include:

  1. Aid in the development of fixtures and other processing aids used to manufacture medical devices
  2. Initiate and release documentation to support projects
  3. Aid in the design and development of various medical device technologies
  4. Perform and document required product testing
  5. Provide overall support for a variety of design and development tasks
  6. Assist with the investigation and problem solving of critical product/process problems
  7. Perform all other essential duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications
           

  1. Good written and oral communication skills
  2. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  3. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  4. Motivation to successfully complete tasks in a timely manner
  5. Strong hands-on technical ability
  6. Ability to prepare standard reports/documentation and to communicate results
  7. Ability to organise, analyse and draw conclusions from the test data
  8. Ability to create engineering documentation changes and write justifications for changes

Education:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biotechnology programs.

Experience:

3-5 years experience in medical device or similar industry.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to look at a computer screen, reports and other documents.  The employee is regularly required to use their hands on a computer keyboard or a calculator.  The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and interact with other employees.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
