Job Descriptions

Purpose of the position 

This role provides carpentry duties under the direction of the Site Supervisor. The Carpenter undertakes their work to a high quality, maintains safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements. 

Key responsibilities & duties

  • Work within and promote a safety culture in all aspects of work
  • Participate and assist with all safety requirements on site and take appropriate action if safety issues are identified
  • Undertake allocated work accurately and efficiently and meet safety requirements
  • Maintains a tidy work area and site
  • Role model to all others on the worksite appropriate workplace behaviours according to company values and the code of conduct
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with contractors and industry colleagues
  • Show confidence when dealing with others
  • Implements and promotes company policies, work procedures and systems, and products and services.
  • Ensures work is completed in accordance with legislation, regulation and codes of practice standards
  • Perform other work as directed for relevant tasks and duties which arise through workload changes from time to time

Key Tasks

  • Construct formwork and falsework into which concrete is poured
  • Read plans and specifications to determine the dimensions, materials required and installation processes
  • Cut materials with hand and power tools and assemble, or nail, cut and shape parts
  • Maintain and sharpen tools

Selection Criteria 

Essential

  • Construction Industry experience
  • Holds Trade Qualifications (Carpentry), the General Induction to the Construction Industry Card (White Card), and other relevant industry based training
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and work well under pressure to get the job done safely
  • Guides other team members to achieve work outcomes
  • Treats others with respect and courtesy and values different ideas and approaches
  • Effective communication skills with ability to deal with people at all levels in a professional manner

Desirable

  • Previous Formwork carpentry experience
